| Issue Source | Special Interest |
| Description | 4-H stereotypically has been seen as a program just for rural kids. There is a lack of understanding and awareness of 4-H. Many youth today are seeking ways to serve and become involved in service learning experiences. 4-H may be one avenue. 4-H's rich history is not well interpreted to note Texas Cooperative Extension's research base in youth development. The rich history of 100 years demonstrates our track record of success but must be interpreted to stakeholders in all communities. |

| Notes/comments | Plan at least one major event to recognize the Centennial. You can incorporate the celebration in any activity during the year but focus on what fits your county. Identify with volunteers and youth what activity would best serve your county in giving appropriate awareness of the 4-H program and it's 100 years. Look at the promotion kit and Centennial web site(launching in 2007) for ideas...flost for parades/special exhibits at fairs and /or community events/ kick-off night have a special recognition for those that are former 4-H members of distinction. Tie an event with scheduled holiday activities. |
