Notes/commentsYou want this program to be a total curriculum enrichment experience for youth. Therefore, just an ag fair does not constitute curriculum enrichment! Best practice is for agent to put together a curriculum that is distributed prior to the ag fair to the teachers with at least 6 lessons for them to implement. There are several resoucrces that can be used including the Farm Bureau Ag In The Classroom curriculum, Yea 4-H! curriculum (K-2 or 3-5), and state 4-H Ag Literacy website where lessons can be downloaded (http://texas4-H.tamu.edu/projects/aglit/). Determine what areas will be addressed at the ag fair and put together lessons that compliment the ag fair activities. Ideally, curriculum should be hands-on for youth and handouts that the kids can take home also help to reinforce what they have learned as well as show their parents what they are learning.
